PLASTER CASTS

PLASTER CASTS

Since the rediscovery of Antiquity in the 15th century, and the subsequent travels to the ancient sites in Greece and Italy, plaster casting has been used for accurately reproducing sculpture and bringing it home. Scholars, artists, universities and country houses used to have their collection of plasters. They were arranged on one wall or in an entire room in this heteroclite blend of architectural elements and statuary, which became so characteristic for the "GrandTour” look.

With their crisp white aspect and their subtle games of light and shadow, even today the charm never fails to fill the atmosphere in a room. All the casts in our collection are re-editions of antique originals, carefully hand made in Britain.
